“Sipping,” now in its third edition, has established itself as a catalyst for new strategic partnerships, not only between Italy and the Emirates but also among industrial companies from various countries.
The Project by Matteo Colombo
The iconic Conrad Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi hosted “Sipping,” an exclusive networking event now in its third edition, which brought together over 200 energy sector leaders during Adipec 2024, the world’s largest oil and gas fair held from November 4 to 7.
The initiative, led by Matteo Colombo, CEO of Profile Middle East and Technometer Middle East, included the participation of key institutional figures, such as ambassadors Lorenzo Fanara for Italy and Abdulla Ali AlSubousi for the UAE, as well as significant support from Luigi Di Maio, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Gulf. Representatives from ITA and SACE also attended the networking event. Matteo Colombo, the entrepreneur behind the event, boasts over 25 years of experience in the Gulf countries and leads several companies across Italy, the UAE, Switzerland, and Romania, standing out for his active role in fostering relationships between institutions and businesses in the Gulf region.
A Platform to Discuss Energy Transition and New Partnerships
In an atmosphere that successfully combined professionalism and conviviality, “Sipping” has become a catalyst for new strategic partnerships, not only between Italy and the Emirates but also among industrial companies from different countries. The event also served as an ideal platform to discuss the challenges of the energy transition and promote public-private collaborations in a more informal setting than the fast-paced traditional industry conferences.
The Success of the Initiative
The success of the initiative is also due to the support of major Italian industrial players who share its vision and objectives. Among these are Rosetti Marino, Cortem Group, ItaliaCamp, and Incico, whose support significantly contributed to the success of the event.
The networking event, set to return on November 4, 2025, and the growing participation it has attracted over the years confirm the key role of Italian-Emirati cooperation in shaping a sustainable and innovative energy future.
