Cultural identity, dialogue among peoples, and food sustainability in the volume of the Consular Corps of Naples, presented with Deloitte to celebrate the 2,500th anniversary of the city’s founding.

The event will feature contributions from institutional figures, including the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi; the Prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari; the Dean of the Consular Corps, Elio Pacifico; and Secretary-General Mariano Bruno, together with representatives of the national Government. A panel discussion will follow, with Alessandra Cerruti, Partner at Deloitte & Touche S.p.A.; Armando De Nigris, President of the Consorzio Tradizione Italiana; Vincenzo Di Vincenzo, Editor-in-Chief of Il Mattino; and Chef Christian Garcia, Chef du Palais Princier de Monaco. Journalists Guido Barendson and Lorenza Scalisi — the latter also author of “Tutti i piatti dei Presidenti” — will also participate. The pages of the book offer a cultural journey through the most representative recipes of 33 countries with a consular presence in Naples, paying homage to the richness of the international communities rooted in the capital of Southern Italy and to the city’s historic role as a Mediterranean crossroads.
“This publication is an integral part of the ‘Neapolis 2500’ programme,” states Mariano Bruno, Secretary-General of the Consular Corps of Naples and Partner at Deloitte & Touche S.p.A., “and is part of a project entirely self-financed by the Consular Corps, aimed at enhancing food as a fundamental tool for dialogue among peoples. The prefaces by Ministers Tajani and Lollobrigida, together with the participation of 33 nations, further enrich this initiative in terms of cultural and symbolic significance for a sector that has always been strategic for our country.”Deloitte will further contribute to the initiative by presenting a study dedicated to sustainability in the food sector, with a particular focus on the responsible use of raw materials, the benefits of short supply chains, and innovative practices aimed at reducing environmental impact — with the objective of combining gastronomic excellence, culture and responsible consumption.
“Food,” says Alessandra Cerruti, Partner at Deloitte & Touche S.p.A., “tells the story of territories, people and relationships. This is why talking about gastronomy also means talking about sustainability: about how we use resources, how we can reduce waste, and how reuse can be transformed into value. We are proud to support a project that brings together culture, innovation and responsibility, demonstrating that what we place on the table can become a bridge between different communities and a concrete investment in our future.”The presentation of the volume will be attended by ambassadors, representatives of the Consular Corps and ten internationally renowned chefs — including three Michelin-starred chefs — who will offer direct testimony on the role of food as a tool for diplomacy, encounter and cultural growth.“On every journey I have learned that cuisine is an immediate story: it is identity, memory, creativity. Through a dish one can read a culture, understand its soul and approach people in an authentic way. This volume celebrates the extraordinary ability of food to unite different worlds,” says journalist Lorenza Scalisi, author of “Tutti i piatti dei Presidenti”.
“Consuls and Cuisines: Gastronomic Diplomacy” is an invitation to reflect on the value of cuisine as a space for connection, identity and openness — a testament that Deloitte is proud to support, in the belief that even at the table it is possible to build the dialogue and cooperation the world increasingly needs. The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Naples, Napoli MuSa – Comitato Nazionale Neapolis 2500, and U.C.O.I. (Union of Honorary Consuls in Italy), with the support of Deloitte, KIMBO, De Nigris, Grand Hotel Santa Lucia – Ristorante Il Pavone, Pensofal, Casa Marrazzo, Monteleone – Dolci per Passione, Giovanni Scaturchio, Tenuta Fontana, Tenuta Friggiali and Unifrigo Gadus S.p.A.
