Rising tensions between Hezbollah and Israel escalate as a rocket strike from Lebanon claims the life of an Israeli soldier and wounds three others.
A Hezbollah rocket attack on an Israeli military base in the northern occupied territories has resulted in the death of one Israeli soldier and left three others wounded. The strike, launched from southern Lebanon, was confirmed by Israeli authorities on Tuesday, marking another escalation in the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
The assault comes shortly after another significant incident earlier this month, on October 13, when Hezbollah carried out a drone strike on an Israeli military installation, also in the northern region of the occupied territories. That attack claimed the lives of at least four Israeli soldiers and injured several more.
Adding to the tension, Hezbollah targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea on Saturday. A drone launched by the Lebanese resistance movement struck the window of Netanyahu’s bedroom, leaving a large hole in the side of the house. Netanyahu was not present at the time of the attack, narrowly avoiding the strike.
Hezbollah’s spokesperson, Mohammad Afif, confirmed responsibility for the drone strike on Netanyahu’s home, declaring that the resistance movement would not hesitate to carry out similar operations in the future. “The coming days and nights, and the battlefields, are between us,” Afif warned, alluding to potential future strikes.
During a press conference, Afif also revealed that several Hezbollah fighters had been taken captive by Israeli forces, though he provided few details. He condemned Israel’s actions, stating that “the enemy does not adhere to the ethics of war or international conventions.” He called on the Red Cross to intervene and ensure the safety of the captured resistance fighters.
The recent attacks and Hezbollah’s bold statements have further inflamed the volatile situation between Israel and the Lebanese resistance movement, fueling concerns about escalating violence in the region.
